MEET ROSIE THE RIVETER AT THE ROCHESTER AAUW APRIL 25 MEETING

Members of the public are invited to the general meeting of the Rochester Branch of the American Association of University Women on Thursday, April 25 at 7pm at the Rochester Community House.

Claire Dahl, an AP history teacher will don the iconic blue overalls and blend her love of history with the inspiring stories of Rosie the Riveter, a presentation that highlights the boldness, determination, creativity and bravery of American men AND women as they prepared for and fought World War II. Spurred on by the message of Franklin Roosevelt’s “Arsenal of Democracy” speech, you will learn about the incredible history of the Willow Run B-24 Bomber Plant and the teamwork of the powerful Detroit automotive industry. We will cheer for the dramatic and vital roles played by women. Please come and enjoy this wonderful presentation!

“THE GIRLS OF THE CRESCENT”

SISTERS, ZENA AND MENA of Adams High School have been working to diversify the local book collections in schools and libraries with books that show strong Muslim women and girls in leadership roles. Our Branch will present them AT THE BEGINNING OF OUR JAN. 12 LUNCHEON with over 20 books donated by members as part of out Barnes & Noble fundraisers this spring and fall.
